Shipping & Delivery Information
At Hoosier Heart Coons, the health, safety, and emotional well-being of our kittens guide every decision we make, including how and when they travel to their new homes. We understand that families searching for a Maine Coon kitten often live outside of Indiana, and we are committed to ensuring each kitten’s transition is handled with care, patience, and thoughtful planning.
This page explains our delivery options, travel requirements, costs, and policies in detail so you can make an informed decision and feel confident throughout the process.
Our Location and Pickup Options
Hoosier Heart Coons is located in Indiana. Families who live nearby are welcome to pick up their kitten in person by scheduled appointment. Local pickup allows you to meet your kitten directly and receive personalized guidance on care, feeding, and adjustment as your kitten settles into your home. For the safety of our cats and kittens, visits are arranged only after a kitten has been reserved.
Transporting Kittens Outside of Indiana
For families who do not live close enough to pick up their kitten in person, we offer delivery options designed to prioritize safety and minimize stress. Transport arrangements are discussed only after a kitten has been reserved, as each kitten’s age, development, and individual needs must be considered before travel plans are finalized.
Ground transport is often the preferred option for long-distance travel. We work with experienced, professional pet transporters who provide climate-controlled vehicles, regular care, and attentive monitoring throughout the journey. This method allows kittens to travel in a calm environment with scheduled rest periods and reduces the stress that can come with faster or more restrictive forms of travel.
Air travel may be considered on a limited, case-by-case basis depending on the time of year, weather conditions, airline policies, and the kitten’s readiness. We do not ship kittens as cargo. Any air travel arrangements are discussed in detail prior to approval, and additional costs may apply. Final decisions regarding air travel are always based on what is safest for the kitten.
Age, Health, and Readiness for Travel
We never release or transport a kitten before they are physically and emotionally ready. Each kitten must meet minimum age requirements, be fully weaned, eating independently, and reliably using the litter box before travel is considered. Prior to leaving our care, every kitten receives a veterinary health examination and age-appropriate vaccinations.
If a kitten requires additional time to mature or recover from routine developmental changes, travel will be postponed. We will never rush a go-home date for the sake of convenience. Your kitten’s long-term health and comfort are our top priorities.
Preparing Your Kitten for Travel
Every kitten is carefully prepared before leaving our home. We provide complete health records, vaccination documentation, and detailed care instructions so you know exactly how to support your kitten upon arrival. Familiar scents and comfort items may be included to help ease the transition and reduce travel-related stress.
We also communicate closely with families before and during travel to ensure you know what to expect and how to prepare your home ahead of time.
Shipping Costs and Payment Policies
Shipping or delivery costs are not included in the purchase price of the kitten. Transport fees vary depending on distance, delivery method, and transporter availability. All shipping-related costs must be paid in full before any travel arrangements are finalized.
Once transport has been scheduled, shipping fees are non-refundable. We provide clear cost estimates and confirm details in advance so there are no surprises.
Scheduling, Timing, and Delays
Delivery timing depends on several factors, including the kitten’s readiness, transporter availability, weather conditions, and seasonal travel demands. We maintain open communication throughout the process and will notify you immediately if changes or delays occur.
For safety reasons, travel may be postponed due to extreme temperatures, severe weather, or unexpected transport restrictions. While delays can be disappointing, they are sometimes necessary to protect your kitten’s health and well-being.
Buyer Responsibilities Upon Arrival
Once your kitten arrives, it is important to provide a calm, safe environment and allow time for adjustment. Travel can be tiring, and kittens may need a quiet space to rest and acclimate. We provide guidance on how to help your kitten settle in comfortably during the first few days at home.
Buyers are responsible for being available at the scheduled delivery time and for ensuring their home is prepared before the kitten arrives.
Our Commitment to You and Your Kitten
We take great pride in raising confident, well-socialized Maine Coon kittens and work diligently to ensure every transition is handled with care. From the moment a kitten is reserved through delivery and beyond, we remain available to answer questions, provide guidance, and support you as your kitten grows.
If you have questions about shipping, delivery options, or whether transport is right for your situation, we encourage you to contact us before reserving a kitten. Clear communication helps us ensure the best possible experience for both you and your new companion.
